35 Reunion Pics

Listed below are classmates that have contacted us.  After reading some of the things our classmates have been up to I thought I would share that information.

Abel, Martha

I have been doing several different things.  I was a substitute teacher for city and county schools in Owensboro.  My husband and I recently celebrated our 30th anniversary.  I am currently a teacher's aide at Owensboro High School.

Aldridge, Wayne

Married Marilyn 25 years ago.  We have three son, a 9 year old granddaughter and a 6 year old grandson.  I have been in the home building business for 25 years.  Marilyn has been working with the Daviess County School system for 15 years.

Anderson, Donna

I am a Finance Manger with State Farm Insurance and have 3 very handsome grandsons – expecting another in April. We love to travel and spend time with family.

Anderson, Lewis

Would like to attend the class reunion, but will be in Coronado, California attending my youngest son's graduation from the Navy Seals Program.   I am now working as a correctional officer at Branchville Correctional Center.  I have 4 gandsons 9, 6, 4 and 8 months old.  I enjoy being with family, golf, camping, traveling and boating.  And I hope I grow old enough to retire!

Arnold, Robert

Still carrying mail, USPS, Diamond Valley Station.  23 years in service

Ashcraft, Debbie

I am working as the school nurse in Mineola and have been here for 16 years.  I have two children that have graduated from college and are both married and living in the Dallas area.  I enjoy quilting, reading and yard work.

Ayer, Tom

After high school I went to work in Evansville at Whirlpool until August of 1971.  I then moved to Orlando, FL where I lived until 1993.  While in Orlando I married my 1st wife and we had a daughter, Janine, who is now 20 years old.  After 11 years of marriage my wife died of leukemia.  Three years later I married my present wife Tracy and we now live in Charlotte, TN, about 40 miles west of Nashville.  I've been a truck driver for the last 20 years, which has allowed me to see much of this country and meet many interesting people.  I like to play a little golf when I have time, but my main hobby is riding and showing Tennessee Walking Horses, which is very big in this area.  Family, hobbies and job have all be important in my life, but number one above all else is my Christian faith.  Having Christ in my life gives me forgiveness of my sin and a real sense of purpose in life.

Baumgartner, Ted

Went to England for 2.5 years (95-97). Currently in Dallas area as VP Technology for Frito-Lay

Belcher, Darrell

Key account manager, National Dairy Holdings.  Two children, Amy 24 and Tim 17.  Married to my same wife for 31 years

Trying like heck to stay out of trouble.  Some things don't change.  Hope to see everyone at the reunion.

Bowman, Bernie

My oldest daughter got married in May 2000. She has since had a little girl.  She is now 2.  Her name is Hadley Ellen.  The “Ellen” after her “Meme”, which is me.  I am very proud of her, which you can tell.  I’ve worked in Accounting for the last 35 years, but have not worked in a year.  I love it, but getting poorer by the minute.  I’m married to Jim McRae and have been for the last 18 years.  I have 2 daughters, Chelsea, 26 and Megan, 24.  I also have 3 step daughters and 3 step grandchildren, which I am very proud of.   My mother is still living and remarried last year.  My Dad pasted away in 2000.  My 2 sisters still live in Owensboro.  Also for the past 14 years I have spent a week at the beach with the following classmates: Susan  Lambert, Renne Kennedy, Susan Wood, Jackie Copeland and Mary Ames.

Brooks, Paul

I will not be able to attend the reunion.  I am going to be out of the country on vacation that week/weekend.  I hope all of my classmates have a wonderful weekend and I want to tell everyone hi.  I can't believe it has been 35 years.

Still slaving away at the paragraph factory.  Right now, I’m Deputy Money Editor/International at USA TODAY, which means I’m doing much the same thing I’ve been doing since August 7, 1967, my first day on the job at the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer; i.e. coming in every day and putting out the paper.  I still like my work, and I’m passionate about my hobbies (including genealogy and following UK hoops) so my lust for life continues to expand, along with my waistline.  My wife, Wesie, is retired from teaching and our three kids are grown up and prospering

Cornell, Charlotte

Retired from teaching at Daviess County High School after 28 years in the school system.  I never quite decided if after I graduated from DCHS and returned there for the next 28 years whether 1) I didn’t get very far in life or 2) I came full circle by returning home.  But now I work at the Council of State Governments as education policy lead and reporter for State Government New magazine.  I study and write about K-12 education for legislators and their support staff as well as for governors and their support staff in all fifty states and the US territories.  Like Jerry Garcia said in “Truckin” – what a long strange trip its been……..

Couch, Mona

Well, as you can see, I didn't get to make it...thanks to Hurricane Charlie, my oldest daughter and family lives in Orlando and needed my assistance.  I guess the last time we were together was at the 20 year reunion, a lot has changed.  I am now single and work for Commonwealth Aluminum.  Spend most of my free time with both sets of grandchildren, have 2 boys and 1 girls in Florida and 1 of each in the big "O".  If I am not with the grandchildren you can usually find me on one of the golf courses, be it in KY, FL, GA, CA or where ever someone wants to play a round of golf (LOL).  I hope we have a 40 year reunion so I am able to be with friends of the past.

HA!  Girls, its a romance.  It has not been published yet, but  I am hopeful.  I'm about 1/2 finished with my second one now.  I guess that brings things current.  I'd just like to say that I attended the reunion  and it was great to see all of you and to catch up on your doings.  I'm very proud of the class of 1969.  I think we have lived up to or expectations.

I will have been married 34 years on August 29th.  I have 3 children that are grown, Carol and Caryn (twins) and a son John and 2  granddaughters, Lexie and Ashley (who do no wrong in their Meme's eye).  I have worked at Owensboro Medical Health Systems in Medical Records on and off for the last 35 years.  If you ever come in to get your records don't be upset if I don't recognize you at first.  Some of us have changed a little since high school.  Would love to hear from you.

I am a registered financial sales assistant with A. G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. here in Houston, Texas.  I have been with this company for seven years and before that I worked at another brokerage firm for six years.  I am single and have lived in Houston since 1984.  My parents are still living so I do travel to Owensboro often and still stay in touch with a lot of people there

Stewart, Allan "Buzz"

We own and operate Lloyd’s Mechanical & Engineering, which we purchased in 2000.  Prior to that we were both employed by industries in Hancock Co.  Allan’s son, Seth works with us a Lloyd’s and Martha’s daughter Jennifer, graduated December 2003 with her MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  We enjoy playing golf, taking cruises and spending time with our friends and family.

Wall, Barbara

I lived in Florida for about a year but returned to Owensboro and worked for a dentist.  I  then began working at the Opportunity Center as a Vocational Evaluator and have been here for 25 years.  I have a degree in Human Relations from Brescia.  I have two children, Keaton, 21 and McKenzie, 17.  I am married to Bob Gray and have been for six years.  We live at Sorgho.  I love to work in my yard and have all kinds of flowers.  As I get older I seem to be turning into my mother, which is scary.  My daughter is a senior at Apollo and plays soccer.  I have three grandchildren, all boys.

Wilkerson, Pam

I enjoy collecting antiques, going to auctions and yard sales.  I don’t have a 9 to 5 job (self employed – work when I want to and shop when I don’t want to work).  We have two handsome grandsons which we love to spoil.  We will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary on August 28, 2004

Wood, Susan

We have three grandchildren: Davis, 9, Kaylee, 6 and Vivian, 2.  I still work for Texas Gas (27 years) here in Owensboro and Joe has been with Western Kentucky Energy (formerly Big Rivers Electric Co.) for 24 years.  Just prior to turning 40, my closest friends from high school and I started getting together for one week every summer, without husbands or children, just reminiscing, talking sharing, and supporting each other in our adult lives.  I would venture a guess that “your” name has come up sometime in the last 14 years…… Anyway, we highly recommend these trips.  They’re great for what “ails” ya!  It’s nice to be back with the Class of “69!

Worthington, Rebecca

Still employed at Owensboro Grain Company

Yater, Pam

I am a Part Owner in a business and have worked in Accounting for the past 25 years.  I have lived in California for the past 23 years.  I have 3 children – 2 girls and 1 boy.  My children are grown and leave near St. Paul, MN.  We are currently living near the north gate of Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevadas.  We have purchased property in North Carolina and plan to build our semi-retirement home in the next 2 years.  My company name is Symmetric Software and we have designed software for the Auctioneer Industry.  Our website is auctionrpm.com.  My husband and I also own a business in home repairs and  construction.  Since I left DCHS I went to college and was married and divorced.  My second husband died of a heart attack and I have been re-married for the past 8 years. (Third times a charm!!!!!). My husband and I are both Jehovah’s Witnesses and have been for the past 20+ years.  Old age has caught up with me (as it does us all), but I can’t complain.  I hope to attend in August but running two businesses may hold me back.  Special thoughts go out to Daris McCormick, Annie Ford and Debbie Hudson.  You were my best pals!!!!.  Hope to see you soon.
